Brooklyn Contra introduces a series of Family Dances! Join us on March 13 for a Family Dance at Brooklyn Heights Montessori School for Brooklyn Contra's first FAMILY DANCE! Margaret Bary will call simple traditional folk dances (lines, circles, and squares!) enjoyable for children and their families. The Jody Kruskal Trio will play energetic music that will enliven the spirits of young and old. This event will be a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to come and play together. No dancing experience is required.

$10 per dancer. $30 for families of 4 (or more).

At the Brooklyn Heights Montessori School, 185 Court Street (entrance off Bergen). Please bring clean, indoor, soft-soled dancing shoes. Outdoor shoes and heels are very hard on the floor and we ask that you leave them at the door.

This family dance provides an opportunity for children and adults to interact in an inter-generational community.Children who come to these dances have a place where they can learn new skills, meet new people, and have plenty of room for play.  Teaching dance to young children helps them become more coordinated in their movements, comfortable in groups, and most importantly, confident in their own capabilities.    Social dancing fosters interactions with both familiar and new faces in a welcoming environment.  The experience of dancing together with friends and family is a memory that children-- and parents-- will carry with them forever.
