Challenging Contra's and A Contra For All with Calico and Bob Isaacs

  • Camp Friendship 339 8th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

This is gonna be an amazing day of dancing! Join us for our first double dance of the year with one of the best bands going, Calico, and one of America's most esteemed dance callers and choreographers, Bob Isaacs. Don't miss our first double dance of the year!

If you've been dancing for a few months, join us for Challenging Contra's to level up from beginner to intermediate! If you're brand new, join us at 7:30 to learn from one of the best teachers in the country, and all day, we'll be dancing to the driving tunes of Calico!

With its unique mix of driving cello, 12-string guitar, and a hell of a lot of foot percussion, Calico brings a fiery twist to the fiddle music of Québec and New England. Whether they’re playing archival crooked tunes or new compositions, Casey Murray, Jesse Ball, and Eric Boodman create a joyous sound all their own. They’re bound to make you want to get up and dance!

Bob Isaacs, from Princeton NJ, squares the circles and lines up the dots with his delightful dance compositions. A prolific choreographer of creative dances, Bob is known for his clear calling of flowing contras and amazing hot grid squares.

This dance is mask optional.
