A Contra Dance for All!

  • Camp Friendship 339 8th Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Join us for the dynamic dance engine of Missing Lynx featuring the fiddle, viola, mandolin, and more of Oliver Scanlon (Pete’s Posse, Stove Dragon) alongside Alex Louis Fortier’s piano and synthesizer, plus calling from Carl Levine!

Missing Lynx: With years of combined experience playing for contra dances, the muti-instrumentalist of Missing Lynx fill the hall as a dynamic dance engine. Oliver Scanlon (fiddle, viola, mandolin, feet, vocals) and Alex Fortier (piano, keyboards) blend their talents to bring fresh tunes from a variety of northeast folk repertoires to life with expert execution and tight arrangements, to lift dancers across the floor.

Carl Levine, a caller and storyteller based in Brooklyn, New York, is known for his clear teaching and interesting programming. He has been calling contra dance for 35 years, and also teaches English country dance, waltz, and hambo, as welling as leading traditional style family dances.
