See you for a contra dance for all to see out the weekend, with a visit from one of our very favorite bands! We’re joined by Petrichord’s unique combination of influences from Old Time to Québécois, Classical to Cape Brenton, plus a visit from the amazing calling of Boston’s Harris Lappiroff!

Petrichord is a dynamic contra dance trio based in the Washington, DC area, weaving together a number of influences to create an eminently danceable, engaging experience. Colleen Holroyd (fiddle, feet) brings her passion for Québécois, Cape Breton, and Scottish fiddle tunes to the band. Sophie Chang (cello) injects a grounding of classical training into Petrichord’s sound, along with experience gained from playing for English country dances. Rounding out the trio is Bobby LaRose (piano, mandolin), adding his love of old time and Irish music.
Harris Lapiroff is a caller hailing from Somerville, MA. He's worn many hats through many locales in the dance community; he was an organizer of Youth Dance Weekend for 6 years and is currently on the boards of Cambridge MA's local contra dance BIDA and Pinewoods Camp. He strives for an efficient, friendly calling style that gets dancers moving as quickly as possible and then gets out of the way.
