Join Brooklyn Contra for a night of music and storytelling with the amazing Forsyth joining us from Boston, plus a crankie performance by Eve Liberman.
Forsyth is a collective of Boston-based musicians—Kate Knudsvig, Erin Shea Hogan, Kat Wallace, and Helen Kuhar— who utilize their four unique voices and a wide array of instrumentation as their canvas. Each member is a formidable musician in their own right and when combined, form a supergroup of rising artists in folk music. Drawing from their diverse musical backgrounds and spanning across multiple genres, each member contributes equally to the ensemble’s vibrant tapestry. Forsyth brings a shared interpretation of beloved folksongs reimagined with intricate arrangements, as well as original material that is equally at home in the tradition.
In the short time since their founding in January 2025, the group has become a staple in many areas of the folk world, consistently selling out shows, performing and teaching at festivals such as Maine Celtic Celebration and the Baltimore Old-Time Festival, and continually growing their fan-base across the country. Forsyth recorded their debut album at Great Northern Sound Society in January 2026, which is set to be released in early January 2027.
Join Brooklyn Contra for an evening of music and song with Forsyth and a crankie by Eve Liberman.

Eve Soffer Liberman wears many hats: artist; illustrator; puppeteer; seamstress; writer; musician. Her work draws inspiration from folklore and folk culture, fairy tales, nature, magic, and girlhood. When she isn’t making art, making clothing, or making music, you might find her attempting to commune with the tiny people that live in trees and wear acorn caps as hats.
Born and raised in New York City, she is a graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for the Arts and Smith College and has an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Eve will perform “The Machinations of My Heart,” after a terrible accident, a girl wakes to find her body transformed, and finds that storytelling is her only means of communication. A strange and singular show with crankies (scrolling panoramic illustrations), shadow puppets, and song.
