Join Brooklyn Contra for an evening of colonial era and modern folk dances to live music. All dances will be taught and appropriate for adults and kids 8 and up, no experience necessary! We’ll have live music from The Cozy Socks and calling from Carl Levine!

Contra is an easy-to-learn folk dance (similar to square dancing with some swing dance flair) that comes with a free lesson and amazing live tunes! Originating in northern Appalachia based on English and French formal dances, contra is now danced around the country by multi-generational communities. Bringing a partner isn't necessary as folks switch partners between each dance.
