Coming in from Philly we have the fantastic High Strung, four multi-instrumentalists who keep the energy all the way up! They’ll be joined by Maia McCormick calling funky and fascinating contras with panache and maybe just a few puns.
High Strung is a vibrant new four-piece from Philadelphia. With foot-stomping reels, pulsing marches, and soaring jigs, High Strung blends Celtic, Canadian, and American folk traditions into an electrifying sound, guaranteed to keep the floor moving until the last waltz.
Maia McCormick is a contradance caller and choreographer based in New York City. She calls around the Northeast and beyond, at festivals, dance camps/weekends, and regular dances alike (including, to name a few: Queer Contra Dance Camp, ESC Week at Pinewoods, Youth Dance Weekend, Dawn Dance, LCFD Spring Dance Camp, and the NEFFA festival).
As a choreographer, she strives to write dances that are both compelling and idiomatic. Her dances have made it into some other people’s collections, and have been called as far afield as California and Alaska.
Dancing Starts at 8pm, Afters from 11-late at Logan’s Run on 5th Ave.
